V\u00e5r utg\u00e5ngspunkt \u00e4r att dessa tankesmedjor ska ses som globala politiska m\u00e4klare, som \u00f6vers\u00e4tter id\u00e9er mellan olika akt\u00f6rer i det globala politiska landskapet. Studien \u00e4r inriktad p\u00e5 tv\u00e5 tankesmedjor \u2013 RAND Corporation och Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (CEIP) \u2013 och deras f\u00f6rs\u00f6k att p\u00e5verka i fr\u00e5gorna handelspolitik och klimatf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringar. B\u00e4gge dessa tankesmedjor har startat som nationellt f\u00f6rankrade policyorganisationer i USA, men har idag kontor p\u00e5 ett flertal platser i v\u00e4rlden. De aspirerar b\u00e5da p\u00e5 att vara just \u201dglobala tankesmedjor\u201d. V\u00e5rt m\u00e5l \u00e4r att erbjuda en flerdimensionell redog\u00f6relse av den position som tankesmedjornas experter och organisationer skapar \u00e5t sig sj\u00e4lva. Hur arbetar transnationellt verksamma tankesmedjor f\u00f6r att f\u00e5 inflytande, auktoritet och legitimitet? Vilken typ av resurser anv\u00e4nder de sig av, i vilka situationer, med vilka konsekvenser? Huvudsakliga metoder \u00e4r f\u00e4ltarbete, intervjuer med anst\u00e4llda och deltagare i arbetsgrupper samt dokumentanalys.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This project investigates the role of transnational think tanks in the shaping of political agendas. We conceive of them as global policy brokers, mediating and translating ideas among various actors in the global political landscape. More specifically, the purpose of the project is to examine the workings of two transnational think tanks \u2013 RAND Corporation and Carnegie Endowment for International Peace \u2013 and their attempts to exert influence on two specific policy issues: trade policy and climate change. We aim to provide a multidimensional account of the position and authority that think-tank experts and organizations strive to construct for themselves. How do think tanks generate power, authority and legitimacy? What financial, social, cognitive and political resources do they draw upon, in what situations, generating what consequences?
