Projektbeskrivning<\/strong><\/p>\n Scroll down for project description in English<\/p>\n Om demokratin inte ska bli ett tomt skal b\u00f6r medborgarna delta i upplysta samtal d\u00e4r besluten v\u00e4xer fram. Bidrar det civila samh\u00e4llet p\u00e5 ett konstruktivt s\u00e4tt till denna process? Under vilka f\u00f6ruts\u00e4ttningar, i s\u00e5 fall? Vi vill veta vad som h\u00e4nder inom organisationerna respektive i m\u00f6tet med andra akt\u00f6rer: Hur inf\u00f6rlivas och genereras kunskap i det civila samh\u00e4llet? P\u00e5 vilket s\u00e4tt bidrar denna kunskap till det offentliga samtalet? Trots omfattande forskning vet vi n\u00e4mligen f\u00f6rv\u00e5nansv\u00e4rt lite om detta. En anledning \u00e4r att tv\u00e5 av de mest omtvistade omr\u00e5dena inom samh\u00e4llsvetenskaperna ber\u00f6rs: Dels fr\u00e5gan om det civila samh\u00e4llets roll i demokratin.\u00a0 Dels fr\u00e5gan om vad som \u00e4r kunskap, hur den genereras och anv\u00e4nds. Inom denna ram utformas flera \u00f6verlappande studier som involverar forskare, doktorander och studenter. Studierna, som ska kombinera kvalitativa och kvantitativa metoder, koncentreras till centrala akt\u00f6rer inom det civila samh\u00e4llet, s\u00e5som intresseorganisationer och betydelsefulla think-tanks. V\u00e4lf\u00e4rdsstatens k\u00e4rnomr\u00e5den prioriteras.<\/p>\n Projektet kommer att ge \u00f6kad k\u00e4nnedom om civila samh\u00e4llets roll i den kunskapsgenererande processen, och dess roll i det offentliga samtalet om v\u00e4lf\u00e4rdsstatens utformning. F\u00f6rutom att \u00f6ka kunskapen om hur v\u00e4lf\u00e4rdsstaten utvecklas, f\u00f6rb\u00e4ttras f\u00f6ruts\u00e4ttningarna om vi i framtiden vill f\u00f6r\u00e4ndra de institutioner som p\u00e5verkar konflikt och samspel mellan det civila samh\u00e4llet och andra sf\u00e4rer i samh\u00e4llet, till exempel vetenskapssamh\u00e4llet och partipolitiken.<\/p>\n Project description<\/strong><\/p>\n A legitimate democracy rests heavily on the participation in effective deliberation by those affected by the political decisions. The main question in this project is to find out what particular roles civil society plays in connecting citizens, the scientific society and the political sphere with respect to knowledge and dialogue. We want to investigate how collective actors in civil society incorporate, learn and produce knowledge, in what way they impart that knowledge to other participants, and if they reflect about or seriously consider others contributions in the conversation. Does civil society contribute to the public discourse in a deliberative manner or does it only work as a platform for special interests? An attending question is in what way the knowledge is acknowledged and used.<\/p>\n The research will focus on how civil society takes part in the public discourse of the welfare state. The project will provide increased knowledge of the role of civil society in the knowledge-generating process, and its role in the public debate on the welfare state design.
