I den politiska debatten diskuteras m\u00e4ngder av fr\u00e5gor som har med facket att g\u00f6ra, men det finns v\u00e4ldigt lite forskning om fr\u00e5gan: Vad b\u00f6r facket g\u00f6ra? Projektet syftar till att \u00e5tg\u00e4rda denna brist.<br \/>\nTre fr\u00e5gor kommer att unders\u00f6kas. F\u00f6rsta, varf\u00f6r b\u00f6r det finnas fackf\u00f6reningar? Projektet utg\u00e5r fr\u00e5n politiska filosofen John Rawls teori om r\u00e4ttvisa f\u00f6r att formulera ett argument f\u00f6r varf\u00f6r fackf\u00f6reningar beh\u00f6vs och vilken roll de b\u00f6r ha i samh\u00e4llet. Den andra fr\u00e5gan \u00e4r: Vad b\u00f6r fackf\u00f6reningar g\u00f6ra? Hur ska man g\u00f6ra avv\u00e4gningar mellan h\u00f6gre l\u00f6ner och arbetsl\u00f6shet eller mellan unga och \u00e4ldres intressen? Slutligen, vilken inst\u00e4llning b\u00f6r staten ha gentemot fackf\u00f6reningar? B\u00f6r de gynnas, eller b\u00f6r staten vara neutral? Detta reser fundamentala fr\u00e5gor om statens roll i samh\u00e4llet och ekonomin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Surprisingly, there is very little work on why there ought to be unions, or what they ought to do. Philosophers have neither analyzed of unionism, nor applied normative theories to this part of the economic system. These questions are central in contemporary political debate. This project will investigate three questions with regards to what unions ought to do.<\/p>\n<p>First, why should there be trade unions? The project takes as its starting point John Rawls&#8217; theory of justice in order to formulate an argument for why unions are needed and what role they should play in society.<\/p>\n<p>The second question is: What should unions do? How should we make trade-offs between higher wages and unemployment, or between young and older people&#8217;s interests? Finally, what attitude should the state have against unions? Should the state support them, or should it be neutral?
